How much do you charge for repairs?

We have set rates for certain jobs. See our services page tab at the top of this page for the various services we offer. For all other work our rate is $65/Hr plus parts. Parts prices are the same prices as found on the Trainz.com website.

How long will my repair take?

Ans

Our turnaround time is the best in the industry. Once your item is delivered to our warehouse it will be “checked in” by our Receiving Department in the order in which it was received. This typically takes 1-2 days. Once it arrives at the Service Center we work hard to get your item completed within 7-10 business days. In many cases we can get it out a little faster than that! A fast turnaround is just one of the many traits that we are known for. Items that require parts may take longer as some parts must be obtained from the manufacturer.

How do you charge for shipping, troubleshooting, irrepairable items, etc?

What if you don’t have the parts needed?

Ans

We have over 8000 parts in stock to avoid this as much as possible. In the event that we don’t have the part(s) required, we will scour our suppliers and the internet to find we we are looking for. We have access to both Lionel’s and MTH’s parts systems. We also maintain in our database the parts available from over 10 other vendors to allow us to quickly find who might have the part we need. Lionel parts usually require 5-7 business days to receive. MTH parts can take as long as 30 days but usually arrive in 14-20 business days.

What Manufacturer’s Products do you work on?

We work on nearly every manufacturer. Getting parts from manufacturers that are no longer in business is sometimes impossible.

Why have you now decided to open your service center?

Ans

Based on 15 years experience repairing our own trains internally, we now offer our services and expertise to you. In the past we had been performing customer repairs upon request and we were getting rave reviews, especially with our “Customer Repairs First” mentality. We also know there just aren’t as many repair shops out there anymore and there isn’t anyone offering to do repairs on a national basis in a big way, so here we are!

What warranty do you offer on your services?

We offer a 45 day warranty on work performed from the day your item leaves our warehouse. Parts warranties are subject to the individual manufacturers’ warranty policy.

Why don’t you offer tune-up on my locomotives for $24.99 like you do when I buy them from you?

Ans

We offer the tune-up certificates as a convenience to our buyers on the Trainz.com auction platforms. This add-on also gives the hobbyist the choice to perform their own maintenance or have it ready to go out of the box when it arrives. The Tune-Up allows us to provide a greater selection by saving the labor and parts costs for batteries which we apply toward acquiring more and diverse product. As a lot of our engines are purchased for display, not replacing the batteries with new ones prevents numerous batteries from being “wasted” as they will just sit on a shelf and slowly discharge possibly damaging the engines in the process.

What are your ours of operation?

We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30a – 4:00 p. We are closed on weekends and most major holidays.
